Here, ‘Karya’ means ‘matter’ and ‘vattom’ means ‘circle’, hence the place got named Kariyavattom.
This location is also popular as an educational hub and home to prominent educational institutions like the University of Kerala campus for postgraduate studies, Kerala University Engineering College, College of Engineering (CET), Government College, Kariyavattom and the Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (LNCPE). Conveniently located near Kariyavattom Junction are three schools too – Government UPS, Mar Gregarious and SDA schools. You will also find Kerala’s largest sports stadium here, the Trivandrum International Stadium, popularly known as Greenfield Stadium too.
Trivandrum’s IT hub, the Technopark is also located in Kariyavattom. It is expanding at a rapid pace and after the current round of development, it is touted to become the country’s largest IT hub. It employs over 60,000 people currently and this number is only growing. Technopark is a haven of job opportunities too and the demand for homes in Kariyavattom is only growing year-on-year.
