The word luxury is often the most misused word by residential builders. They have been known to use it to market even 1BHK and 2BHK homes as being a luxury home. In actual fact, luxury homes are spacious 3BKH and above homes, are more than 2000 sq ft in area and come with truly world-class fittings and finishing as well as a plethora of amenities.

However, we first need to understand what luxury is, as to some people it is the notion of living in a villa, while to others, a penthouse will do. In such a scenario, it becomes difficult to evaluate whether you are actually going in for a luxury flat. Usually, luxury represents being able to afford excessive space or an otherwise scarce but expensive space.

Responsible branded builders are constantly experimenting with new amenities to retain the luxury tag or by offering innovative designing and construction practices that provide luxurious environments aside from enhancing the financial element of the project. However, you still need to go beyond the glossy pictures and expensive brochure and check whether the features being offered are truly worthy of being tagged as a luxury. Location

Luxury projects are located in good neighborhoods without pollution and excellent road infrastructure. They also have easy access to important facilities like schools, hospitals, markets, etc.

View

A luxury project comes with a fantastic view of the hills, seas or some other feature like cityscapes, etc. It definitely doesn’t include views of garbage heaps or slums, graveyards, markets or hospitals.

Height

The height of luxury homes, that is, the floor-to-ceiling distance, is usually not less than 12 feet as compared to the standard 10 feet. This is an important luxury feature that adds to tasteful interiors.

Number of homes

Luxury projects offer a minimal number of homes per project. Ideally, there shouldn’t be more than 60 families in an acre of land. Any more than this number and there will be crowding for the amenities offered, hence taking away the charm of exclusive luxurious living.

Bedrooms

Luxury homes usually have three or more spacious bedrooms. They might also have the additional feature of offering a maid’s room with attached bathroom.

Parking

In an ideal situation, luxury flats offer a minimum of two parking spaces – with the norm being one parking space per bedroom.
